Spain’s ICAA throws its weight behind 98 projects through its 2025 selective support
The Ministry of Culture has distributed €37 million, which go towards funding the new features by Sergi Pérez, Andrea Jaurrieta and David Martín de los Santos, among others.
On Friday 12 December, Spain’s ICAA (Film and Audiovisual Arts Institute) announced the definitive resolution concerning its selective support for 2025, intended for the production of feature-length projects. Of the total amount given out, a minimum of 40% is reserved for projects helmed exclusively by female directors, a minimum of 15% and a maximum of 25% for documentary projects, a minimum of 10% for animated projects, between 5% and 10% for experimental projects, and a minimum of 5% for co-productions with foreign firms in which Spain is involved as a minority producer. Thus, in the final resolution, the supported projects are split across various categories: 49 deemed to be of special cinematic, cultural or social value (be they fiction or animations), 34 documentaries and 15 experimental titles.
