The Costa Rican director's fourth feature film is a co-production between Costa Rica, Guatemala, Uruguay, and Spain

Paz Fábrega, a Costa Rican filmmaker who made history at the Rotterdam Film Festival by winning the Tiger Award for Agua fría de mar, her debut feature, is currently in post-production on her fourth feature film. Al Futuro is a hybrid documentary backed by production companies from Costa Rica, Guatemala, Uruguay, and Spain.

In Viaje and Aurora, Fábrega explored the theme of motherhood with an extremely intimate perspective. Now, she takes a new direction by placing her own experience at the center of the story. The filmmaker documents the upbringing of Kai (age 3) and Matti (age 5), her two children, while facing financial difficulties and striving to keep her artistic vocation alive.
